Quartz with Quartz after Fluorite

Fluorescent light (daylight)

SV3640EZT

An odd piece from Sidi Rahal: Large, with a pretty color and in good condition, with two peculiarities: small crystals that form elongated groups of stalactitic aspect, not much seen before in Sidi Rahal, and also, the presence of a pseudomorph of Quartz after a large Fluorite crystal. It does not stand out especially because it is on the side of the specimen and is very flat, but there it is.
A double rarity from a locality that already had a tendency to yield peculiar quartzes.

Akassi, Tazarout, Sidi Rahal area, El Kelaâ des Sraghna Province, Marrakech-Safi Region Morocco (03/2023)

Specimen size: 18.7 x 14.8 x 10.5 cm

Main crystal size: 8.4 x 3.2 cm

€680 / US$724 / ¥110940 / AUD$1110

Fluorescent light (daylight)

SV390ETY

Floater group of twinned Aragonite crystals, with a thick tabular habit, translucent, lustrous and purple.
A classic of Spanish mineralogy with higher quality than usual.
The specimen has been reinforced to avoid the separation of the crystals from each other due to local changes in climate that cause the clay between the crystals to expand and contract and end up drying out. This procedure is common for this type of Aragonite and it is generally accepted for specimens with very large aerial crystals.

Keuper outcrop, Los Molinillos, Minglanilla, Comarca Manchuela Conquense, Cuenca, Castilla-La Mancha Spain (12/2022)

Specimen size: 4.1 x 4 x 2.8 cm

Main crystal size: 2.6 x 2.2 cm

€90 / US$95 / ¥14680 / AUD$140

Tetrahedrite (Subgroup) with Bournonite and Siderite

Fluorescent light (daylight)

SV3260EFC

A classic among the classics, a large 'Tetrahedrite' crystal rises very straight above the Siderite, although, unfortunately, it is broken at the top.
The piece as a whole continues to display well because the rest of the crystals are healthy and the break is hidden towards the back, but it has that defect, which the price takes into account.

Horhausen, Flammersfeld, Altenkirchen (Westerwald), Siegerland, Rhineland-Palatinate/Rheinland-Pfalz Germany

Specimen size: 6 x 3.5 x 2.8 cm

Main crystal size: 1.4 x 1.1 cm

Former collection of Valentin Sicher

€220 / US$234 / ¥35890 / AUD$360

Bournonite with Tetrahedrite (Subgroup) and Siderite

Fluorescent light (daylight)

SV3220EFA

A classic among the classics, these bournonites associated with 'Tetrahedrite' have good quality and above all, very good state of conservation, which is not very common in specimens from this locality.
The contrast with the brown Siderite helps to visualize the definition of the crystals even better, both for the Bournonite as well as the 'Tetrahedrite'.

Horhausen, Flammersfeld, Altenkirchen (Westerwald), Siegerland, Rhineland-Palatinate/Rheinland-Pfalz Germany

Specimen size: 5.4 x 4.9 x 4.2 cm

Main crystal size: 5.6 x 4.4 cm

€150 / US$159 / ¥24470 / AUD$240

Andradite

Fluorescent light (daylight)

SV380EAB

Very sharp dodecahedral Andradite crystal, black in color and large, on which some aesthetic 'watermarks' of lighter tones are superimposed, for which we are unaware of the cause.

Not something new, but with this delicate color and amazing architecture these Quartz/Fluorite pseudomorphs caught my attention at Sainte Marie 2023 for being so different from what was known before. The Sidi Rahal area seems to be a source of unimaginable structures that only Nature knows how to create.
