They are very well defined and bright with a dark brown color and implanted on very fine Inesite crystals that are between translucent and transparent, bright and with an intense pink color. The Chinese Hubeites that even during their best times were scarce are currently very difficult to find.

They are zoned so the crystals are Helvine inside and Genthelvite on their edges. The sample has been individually analyzed and we’ll send a copy of this analysis to the buyer.

EN99Y6: Very aerial group, on a Calcite matrix, of very sharp tetrahedral crystals with a clear salmon color and zonal growth. The analysis indicates that both the external zone and the inner crystal are Genthelvite. We’ll send a copy of both analyses to the buyer.

It is on a matrix with Quartz crystals and extremely flattened Calcite crystals (papierspat). Analyzed by Raman, the sample is Genthelvite both on its surface and its interior. We’ll send a copy of the analysis to the buyer.

SV280MFF: Group of octahedral Fluorite crystals completely coated by very lustrous Quartz microcrystals that perfectly preserve the morphology of the Fluorite crystals. One of the crystals preserves part of the original greenish Fluorite, as can be seen on the left side of the specimen. They are arranged in a matrix of rock completely coated by an earlier generation of Quartz crystals. This material was unknown until now at this locality.

MTR89AO0: Druse of Calcite and Quartz crystals with one much larger crystal that was once a Calcite scalenohedron, completely hollow and replaced by microcrystalline Quartz that preserves the perfectly sharp forms of the previously existing Calcite. The application of a strong light source shows that the crystal is completely empty inside.

ME56AK3: Group of very elongated crystals, two of them clearly dominant, with excellent terminations, brilliant, with a small white lenticular crystal of Calcite. This type of specimen, which used to be relatively common, are becoming a rarity.

TBR66AO4: Rosette aggregates of very sharp Veszelyite crystals on matrix, with well-defined crystal forms, translucent, with good luster, and an intense and uniform color.

The Sanguozhuang area lies within the Dongchuan copper–polymetallic district, one of the most significant in southwestern China. Mineralization is mainly hosted in Proterozoic volcano-sedimentary sequences, with stratiform and vein-type sulfide bodies that have undergone strong supergene alteration. This environment favors the formation of secondary Copper and Zinc minerals, including Veszelyite, related to oxidation processes in the upper parts of the ore bodies.

Babingtonite

Munich 2005 offered some samples from China that were offered as Manganbabingtonite. We had doubts about the composition so we did simple analysis and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results leave no doubts: they are really Babingtonite. They are exceptional in size, their association with Prehnite and Quartz and their agreeable esthetics.
Once more, China amazes us with something surpassing the best previously known for a species!

TA90AM8: Lenticular Calcite crystal formed by a very thin prism and an extraordinarily flattened, translucent, lustrous white rhombohedron with concentric geometric zoning. Larger than the usual size for specimens from this locality.
