OUMJRANE - EL FECHT AREA

Azurite with Malachite and Baryte
Azurite with Malachite and Baryte. Azurite with Malachite and Baryte.

EC47AC0: A novelty at Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines 2015. An aggregate of very sharp flattened crystals that are bright with a very vivid color (even under daylight) that extraordinarily resembles the Milpillas “electric blue”. With the Azurite there are small white Barytes and Malachite aggregates.
From a new find in the Oumjrane area, possibly from some of the old works of this zone, these crystals have a luster and color that is superior to the previously known azurites from Morocco.
This specimen was published on the Mineralogical Record´s web page, in the ‘What’s New in the Mineral World?’ section, report #41, August 22, 2015 edition, page 5

NR56AH4: Arborescent growths, on matrix, of very sharp and bright octahedral crystals that form acute parallel alignments. A very fine sample from the Imiter area.
Imiter Mine, Jebel Saghro, Imiter District, Tinghir Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region  Morocco

Specimen size: 3.7 × 2.5 × 1.1 cm = 1.46” × 0.98” × 0.43”

TV48Q0: A plate from a fissure of microcrystals with skeletal forms, on matrix. The piece is from an old find in Imiter, probably around de decade of the 90’ts and unusual as the habitual it has a crystalline aspect.
Imiter Mine, Jebel Saghro, Imiter District, Tinghir Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region  Morocco (±1990)

Specimen size: 4.2 × 4 × 4.6 cm = 1.65” × 1.57” × 1.81”

Main crystal size: 3.2 × 2.6 cm = 1.26” × 1.02”

Silver with Calcite

EQ50T4: Very aerial laminar growth with very well marked clean and fresh crystalline surfaces. It is on matrix with sparry Calcite, not acid-etched.
Imiter Mine, Jebel Saghro, Imiter District, Tinghir Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region  Morocco (2010)

Specimen size: 5.3 × 5.9 × 3.7 cm = 2.09” × 2.32” × 1.46”

MA77AF2: Dendritic growth of extraordinarily elongated crystals with the very visible spinel law twins and black Acanthite surfaces. Its excellent condition of preservation in spite of the long time since it was mined (the sample is from a collection of the 80s-90s) suggests it has no embedded or interstitial mercury. It is not, then, the variety kongsbergite, the more typical Silver at this locality.
Imiter Mine, Jebel Saghro, Imiter District, Tinghir Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region  Morocco

Specimen size: 5.8 × 3.9 × 0.6 cm = 2.28” × 1.54” × 0.24”

Main crystal size: 1.1 × 0.1 cm = 0.43” × 0.04”

TP49X2: Fissure plate of micro-crystals on matrix. The sample is from an old find at Imiter, probably around the 1990'ts. Its luster and fresh aspect suggest that it has no mercury and it is native Silver and not the variety kongsbergite, very common at this locality.
Imiter Mine, Jebel Saghro, Imiter District, Tinghir Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region  Morocco (±1990)

Specimen size: 9.6 × 3.9 × 5.2 cm = 3.78” × 1.54” × 2.05”

EM16W7: Very aerial laminar growth with fresh, very well marked crystalline surfaces. It is on a rocky matrix, with cleaved Calcite. Its excellent condition of conservation in spite of the long time since it was mined suggests it hasn't embedded or interstitial mercury. It is not, then, the variety kongsbergite, the more typical Silver at this locality.
Imiter Mine, Jebel Saghro, Imiter District, Tinghir Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region  Morocco (±1990)

Specimen size: 13.5 × 7.3 × 7 cm = 5.31” × 2.87” × 2.76”

Main crystal size: 8.1 × 3.7 cm = 3.19” × 1.46”

TN46W5: Laminar growths of native Silver on matrix. This sample, a magnificent Moroccan classic, is preserved in mint condition in spite of the many years since its extraction, due to it’s not being combined with native Mercury (Kongsbergite), unlike what happens with the majority of the samples from Imiter.
Imiter Mine, Jebel Saghro, Imiter District, Tinghir Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region  Morocco (±1990)

Specimen size: 14.5 × 10 × 5.3 cm = 5.71” × 3.94” × 2.09”

Imiter Mine, Jebel Saghro, Imiter District, Tinghir Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region  Morocco (03/2011)

Specimen size: 7.8 × 6.5 × 4.5 cm = 3.07” × 2.56” × 1.77”
