Linarite and Brochantite

A Moroccan novelty was the recent find of nice Linarite. This species is not normally found in this country and, although the crystal form is not as good as the better ones from USA, the intensity of its color and the richness makes these specimens very good.

MX62E8: The prismatic, flat crystals with good color and brilliance are not that well defined, as is often the case with this species, which takes advantage of cracks when forming away from other copper minerals. The whole sample is improved by the concretion of micro-crystals of prismatic Brochantite near the bottom of the specimen.

MZ36T6: Aggregates of Linarite crystals with the flattened shape typical for the species. They have very intense color and luster and contrast with the deep green color of the acicular crystals of Brochantite.

EF11H2: Predominating Brochantite fills the specimen of green color and embellishes the upper part with beautiful radially divergent groups of acicular crystals.

TC220EL: Aggregates, on matrix, of Linarite crystals with the elongated and flattened shape typical of the species and with an intense color and luster that contrast with the deep green of the acicular Brochantite crystals. The specimen has been analyzed and we will send a copy of the analysis to the buyer.

EK14N9: A novelty at Ste. Marie 2009. Doubly terminated crystal with very well defined color zoning, reminding one of an hour glass, and unidentified fibrous inclusions. On the back, the crystal has a neat contact, of sugary aspect, from the lost matrix from which it seems to have separated very easily.
The specimen has been reviewed, photographed and published as a novelty from Ste. Marie 2009 in the magazine ‘Lapis’ on page 46, volume 34, number 9, September 2009.

ETV86AP2: Group of very sharp tabular Baryte crystals, one of them clearly dominant, transparent, very lustrous, and with phantom growths defined by the abundant reddish Hematite inclusions. With some geometric contact, but free of damage.

TQ49AN2: Cubo-octahedral Fluorite crystal with very sharp crystal forms, with hopper formations in the center of some of its faces. Translucent, rich in inclusions and with irregular areas of color ranging from green to blue to purple. Comes to us from a little-known locality where good specimens are rare.

XM2180ELF: Aggregates of thick crystals of Vanadinite (arsenical variety) of chocolate-brown color, with lighter shades in some crystals, and with a little matrix. An old Moroccan classic.

We will send the buyer the specimen in its original Perky box from the Robert J. Noble collection, which also contains the label.

EJ9K9: Nice specimen, very sharp, enlongated and extremely flattened. Faces on the dejes are well defined and have a good luster.

ED86AH9: A novelty at Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines 2018. Group of octahedral Fluorite crystals with polycrystalline surfaces that have cubic morphology. They are translucent, with a deep violet color and partially coated by groups of white, deformed and very acute Baryte crystals. It is from a new locality, found thanks to intensive prospective works looking for Baryte in Morocco, in which accidentally appeared also this Fluorite.

It is from a new locality, found thanks to intensive prospecting for Baryte in Morocco.

ED37X4: Spheroidal aggregates of crystals with good terminations, a clear and uniform green color and good luster, and on matrix with small Quartz crystals. It is currently difficult to obtain good samples from this mine, as it is actually abandoned.

AB6H5: The sample is very intense green and forms globular growths consisting of prismatic crystals of simple forms and very well defined. Actually disappeared from the market, it is difficult to obtain good Prehnite from this locality.

TXB14AP9: Centered aggregate of fine acicular Goethite crystals, black and lustrous, on a matrix of white Quartz crystals. This type of specimen, which was relatively abundant in earlier times, is currently very difficult to find with this quality.

The Mamsa area is located in the eastern sector of the Middle Atlas, dominated by Mesozoic sedimentary sequences affected by late-Alpine fracturing. In carbonate levels and alteration zones, secondary mineralizations develop, among them well-defined and transparent Aragonite crystals, which can fill cavities and fissures associated with low-temperature hydrothermal processes.

TL96AN2: A novelty at Sainte Marie Virtual 2021: Group of equant Galena crystals with coatings of white Cerussite microcrystals, partially covered by Plumbogummite with a slightly bluish color, Quartz microcrystals and, on top of this, small crystals of transparent yellow Wulfenite with a bipyramidal habit. At the top there are Quartz crystals and lamellar salmon-colored Baryte crystals. The specimen comes from a find in 2021 in the Georges vein in the Sidi Ayad area. It has been analyzed and we will send a copy of the analyses of the different species to the buyer.

EF56W8: Druse of transparent cubic crystals. They have an intense yellow color and are more isolated and aerial than is usual with most of the samples from the locality. We especially note the contrast between the yellow color of the crystals and the orange tone of the inclusions in the Quartz matrix.

FVX66AO7: Druse on matrix of transparent and very lustrous bright yellow Fluorite crystals, on matrix, with groups of lenticular Siderite crystals and small coatings of Pyrite microcrystals. Its characteristics, the matrix, and the associated species indicate that the locality is Sidi Ayad, although the accompanying documentation gave the locality as El Hammam, an inaccuracy that is not surprising for the time the piece was originally sold.
The specimen comes from the Jan Buma collection (number 890401), whose catalogue entry we will send to the buyer.

They are in matrix, with very sharp Microcline crystals with growths in a preferred orientation, leafier crystals of Albite and, completing this pegmatite specimen, some crystals of Quartz.

ED47AM1: A novelty at the 2020 Munich Virtual show. Matrix group of Ullmannite crystals of cubic habit, with well defined faces and edges, of considerably large size for the species and with small interstitial coatings of nickel salts. As is inevitable with this type of crystals included in the interior of a Calcite matrix, it has been partially acid-etched. The specimen, which comes from a new Moroccan locality for which at the moment we only know the region, has been analyzed and we will send a copy of the analysis to the buyer.

XM2190NJA: A vug completely covered by sharp Calcite crystals with the dominant forms of the scalenohedron, translucent, with good luster and a soft cream color, on a limestone matrix.
A Moroccan classic of excellent quality.
The specimen belonged to Santiago Jiménez who, especially in the 1980s and 90s, assembled an excellent collection.

HFB96CD2: Druse of Quartz crystals with acicular Goethite crystals, partially coated by a second generation of transparent Quartz, very shiny, and forming growths between stalagmitic and globular, completely hyaline.
This type of formation in the goethites of Sidi Rahal is rarely seen, and it has been seen in old or very old pieces like this one.

SV3640EZT: An odd piece from Sidi Rahal: Large, with a pretty color and in good condition, with two peculiarities: small crystals that form elongated groups of stalactitic aspect, not much seen before in Sidi Rahal, and also, the presence of a pseudomorph of Quartz after a large Fluorite crystal. It does not stand out especially because it is on the side of the specimen and is very flat, but there it is.
A double rarity from a locality that already had a tendency to yield peculiar quartzes.

MTX56CD1: In Sidi Rahal, these Quartz crystal growths (amethyst variety) that replace the walls of cubic Fluorite crystals, have slightly amethyst color tones, which is why this specimen is so unusual. Its intense color, equivalent to that of the amethysts from Brazil, gives this specimen a very high level of quality.
The Magazines ‘Lapis‘ and Le Règne Minéral‘ know this, and that is why they both reviewed it as a novelty for Munich 2023. Lapis on page 40 of their edition 12/ 2023 and Le Règne Minéral in its number 174/2023, page 25
