TQ46AB3: A novelty at Tucson 2015
Aggregate of very sharp, thick tabular Azurite crystals of the habit known as ‘chewing gum’ because of their characteristic profile. The crystals are transparent, highly lustrous and display the deep ‘electric blue’ colour that characterizes the finest Milpillas specimens. They are implanted on a white Dickite coating covering the matrix.
This specimen has been photographed and published as a novelty at the 2015 Tucson Show in the magazine 'Lapis' number 03/2015, page 28 and in the monograph 'The Milpillas Mine' of the ‘Mineralogical Record‘ magazine on page 552 in the volume 52, number 5, September-October 2021

The Milpillas deposit is a partially oxidized porphyry copper deposit. The azurite crystallized in the supergene oxidation zone, where copper-rich solutions circulating through fractures and cavities produced some of the world's finest secondary copper mineral specimens.
