MFM3AN8: Groups of Sulphur crystals with dipyramidal habit, with very well-defined faces and edges, lustrous, between transparent and translucent, on matrix with stalagmitic growths of small white Calcite crystals.

The Racalmuto Mine is part of the Messinian evaporite series, rich in Halite, Gypsum and Anhydrite, which act as host rocks for secondary mineralizations such as Celestine, Calcite, Sulphur or Aragonite. Its geological context lies within the great Mediterranean evaporite sequence generated during the Messinian Salinity Crisis, responsible for vast Sicilian salt deposits and for the reducing environments where world-class Sulphur specimens crystallise.
