Corundum on Graphite and Pyrite

 

MBB190XXX: Crystal of Corundum, slightly curved and doubly terminated, pink in color, embedded in a Graphite matrix, an uncommon association of mineral species. In addition to the good color contrast between the pink of the Corundum and the dark tone of the Graphite, the piece is further enriched by the stockwork formed by multiple veins mineralized with Pyrite crystals.
The specimen comes from well-known graphite mines in Austria, from which specimens are rarely seen either in collections or on the commercial mineral market.
