EGD61XXX: Tabular and thick Baryte crystals, of a deep and uniform yellow color, with well-defined faces and edges, on which a spherical concretion formed by metallic grey Pyrite crystals has been deposited, in strong contrast with the Baryte. An association not usual for the locality, but very interesting.
The specimen has been reviewed, photographed and published as a new discovery of Munich Show 2025 in the magazine Mineralogical Record on page 299 in volume 57, number 2, March-April 2026, and it has been published in the magazine ‘Paragénesis’, number 02/2025, page 132
Xiefang Mine is a hydrothermal deposit hosted in Mesozoic sedimentary and volcanic rocks, with vein-type mineralization rich in sulfides. Barite and Pyrite are associated with low- to medium-temperature hydrothermal fluid circulation, filling cavities and fractures and allowing the development of well-formed crystals.
