EBE15XXX: Group of Calcite crystals of scalenohedral habit, well developed and with defined faces, forming an elegant group. They are white to slightly creamy in the outer zones, with a marked pinkish to reddish coloration in the interior of the lower part of the crystals, due to the presence of iron oxides.

This type of Calcites, with shades ranging from pink to red, were found only during a brief period of time in Minas de Villabona, which gives them a certain exceptional character, as these specimens come only from old collections

The term Minas de Villabona refers to the group of mining operations located around Villabona, in the Llanera Municipality, within the central Asturian coal basin. Although originally coal workings, many of these mines were later also exploited or noted for their Fluorite mineralization, often without clear distinction in older labels between the different workings.
