CRB46AP7: Felted aggregates of fine acicular Cuprite crystals (variety chalcotrichite), with very bright luster and an intense, lively red color, on a limonite matrix.
The specimen, from a very classic locality for the species (and variety), comes from the Carles Curto collection’s duplicates (number 1982.32)

Iconic mine of the Bisbee mining district, one of the great classics of the southwestern United States. Copper Queen Mine is part of an extensive copper-bearing system related to Laramide intrusive bodies, with skarn development and hydrothermal mineralization of medium to high temperature. Strong supergene oxidation of the upper levels produced an exceptional suite of secondary copper minerals.
