SM190ECR: Witherite
Witherite crystal with polycrystalline growths marked with reddish-yellow tones. A very characteristic specimen from a classic locality both for the USA and for the species.
Minerva I Mine, Ozark-Mahoning group, Cave-in-Rock Sub-District, Hardin County, Illinois  USA
Specimen size: 6.3 × 4.2 × 4.3 cm = 2.48” × 1.65” × 1.69”
.
SR47AB8: Witherite
Aggregate of very elongated prismatic Witherite crystals with very well defined faces and edges. They are translucent, slightly yellowish and are partially coated by a thin white coating of the same Witherite.
The sample is with a label from the L. Rosciglione collection.
Nentsberry Haggs Mine, Nent Valley, mining district Alston Moor, North Pennines Orefield, former Cumberland, Cumbria  England / United Kingdom
Specimen size: 8.4 × 6 × 6 cm = 3.31” × 2.36” × 2.36”

Main crystal size: 3 × 0.7 cm = 1.18” × 0.28”
.
EA92AA5: Witherite
An aggregate of witherite crystals with the faces of the prism and the pyramid forming cyclic twins. The crystals are translucent and lustrous and have a slightly yellowish color. Like so many specimens in this collection, this one is of great quality for the locality.
Settlingstones Mine, Fourstones, Tyne Valley, Northumberland  England / United Kingdom
Specimen size: 6.5 × 6.3 × 2.2 cm = 2.56” × 2.48” × 0.87”
.
EX89Y3: Witherite with Alstonite
Two partially doubly terminated crystals, one of them clearly dominant, isolated and with very well defined faces and edges, which is really uncommon for Minerva I Mine samples. The Witherite is on a matrix partially coated by small white Alstonite crystals.
The sample is from the Martin Zinn collection, whose label we’ll send to the buyer.
Minerva I Mine, Ozark-Mahoning group, Cave-in-Rock Sub-District, Hardin County, Illinois  USA
Specimen size: 5.4 × 4.8 × 3.5 cm = 2.13” × 1.89” × 1.38”

Main crystal size: 3 × 2.6 cm = 1.18” × 1.02”
.
SQ99AB8: Witherite with Barytocalcite
Aggregate of dipyramidal Witherite crystals. They are translucent, slightly yellowish and are on matrix, with botryoidal Barytocalcite aggregates. The sample is with a previous label of the Ralph Sutcliffe collection. As is the case with so many specimens in this collection, the sample is of great quality for the locality.
Rampgill Mine, mining district Alston Moor, Nenthead, Eden, North Pennines Orefield, former Cumberland, Cumbria  England / United Kingdom
Specimen size: 9.4 × 7.7 × 3 cm = 3.70” × 3.03” × 1.18”
.
VA47Y5: Witherite with Calcite
An intergrowth of two crystals on a matrix of very acute Calcite crystals. The crystals of Witherite, yellowish in color, are formed by a thick prism, horizontally striated, and much flattened and slightly curved rhombohedral terminations.
Minerva I Mine, Ozark-Mahoning group, Cave-in-Rock Sub-District, Hardin County, Illinois  USA (±1978)
Specimen size: 4.7 × 4.2 × 3 cm = 1.85” × 1.65” × 1.18”

Main crystal size: 4.1 × 3.2 cm = 1.61” × 1.26”
.
TLP97AO5: Witherite with Fluorite and Calcite
Witherite crystals formed by a thick prism and very flattened and slightly curved rhombohedral terminations with marked polycrystalline growths, translucent, and yellow in color. On matrix with Calcite and Fluorite crystals. A very characteristic specimen for this classic locality, both for the USA and for the species.
Minerva I Mine, Ozark-Mahoning group, Cave-in-Rock Sub-District, Hardin County, Illinois  USA
Specimen size: 11.3 × 9.7 × 6.7 cm = 4.45” × 3.82” × 2.64”

TGE98XXX: Witherite with Galena
Parallel prismatic crystals of Witherite, whitish in color, doubly terminated and well defined —something not at all common for this species— with very visible remnants of Galena on the back of the specimen. Nentsberry Haggs Mine is part of the historic Alston Moor mining district within the classic North Pennines Orefield, renowned for its stratabound sulphide–carbonate vein systems. Low- to medium-temperature hydrothermal circulation produced veins rich in Fluorite, Baryte, Galena and Siderite, with localized zones exceptionally rich in Witherite. The mine ranks among the world’s most iconic sources of well-crystallized Witherite.
Nentsberry Haggs Mine, Second Sun vein, Nent Valley, mining district Alston Moor, North Pennines Orefield, former Cumberland, Cumbria  England / United Kingdom
Specimen size: 5.8 × 5.4 × 2.6 cm = 2.28” × 2.13” × 1.02”
.
SB91AB0: Witherite with Galena
Aggregates of unusually elongated and twinned crystals, between transparent and translucent, and partially coated by a group of small, very bright, cubo-octahedral Galena crystals. The sample is very esthetic and has an unusual shape for the species. It is an old European classic that Stoppani acquired in exchange with the Museé de l’Ècole des Mines of Paris and it is with an old label of Louis Sæmann
Fallowfield Mine, Acomb, Hexham, Tyne Valley, Northumberland  England / United Kingdom
Specimen size: 5 × 4.2 × 2.7 cm = 1.97” × 1.65” × 1.06”
.
HM240MH: Witherite with Sphalerite and Calcite
Witherite crystals with parallel growths perpendicular to the main axis, very marked, with a slightly yellowish white color, on matrix and with Calcite and Sphalerite. The specimen is from one of the most typical deposits for this not so common carbonate.
Minerva I Mine, Ozark-Mahoning group, Cave-in-Rock Sub-District, Hardin County, Illinois  USA
Specimen size: 11.6 × 10.2 × 5.3 cm = 4.57” × 4.02” × 2.09”
