Very sharp, translucent and bright crystal with a greenish color. It is on an Elbaite (variety rubellite) matrix.
The rubidian Rhodizite was once considered a possible new species, but analyses indicate that it is just a very rare variety of Rhodizite.
The Tetezantsio–Andoabatokely pegmatite field lies within the Precambrian basement of Madagascar’s central plateau, in areas of high-grade gneisses and granites intruded by complex granitic pegmatites rich in incompatible elements.
These pegmatites have yielded many species of mineralogical and gemological interest; typical associations include Beryl, Tourmaline, various phosphates, Feldspar, Quartz, and late-stage pegmatitic phases enriched in Li, Be, Nb, Ta and P, in a region internationally recognised for its mineral diversity.
