A novelty at Munich 2016. Well-individualized Niobophyllite crystals with parallel growths, an intense color, and with Aegirine and Orthoclase. The sample is from a find in a relatively new open area far from the well-known Mount Malosa. The Machinga area belongs to the Eastern African Shield, mainly composed of Precambrian gneisses and metamorphic rocks. The region hosts granitic pegmatites containing lithium, beryllium, and Nb–Ta minerals, formed during late intrusive phases linked to regional metamorphism.
