Complete polycrystalline floater composed of octahedral Cuprite crystals, finely beveled by dodecahedral faces, lustrous, and accompanied by abundant aggregates of microcrystals of the rare species Miersite.
The specimen came from the Robert J. Noble collection.
Cuprite formed in the oxidation zone of a copper deposit, where oxygenated fluids altered primary sulfides. In this secondary environment, Miersite developed as an associated species, adding special mineralogical interest to the piece.
