A really very interesting specimen. One can see how the Quartz and Microcline have grown together and then have continued until they end in the geometric faces of a crystal of amazonite, which is also large, well defined, and has good color.

SV2120TXD: Microcline (variety amazonite)

Pair of interpenetrating Microcline crystals (variety amazonite) with the characteristic greenish-bluish color for specimens of this species, and polysynthetic textures that give it some fine whitish lineations on the faces of the crystals. The specimen is an American classic formed in miarolitic cavities in the Pikes Peak granitic batholith, and it has a rich pedigree as it comes from the collection of Paul Desautels -whose label we will send to the buyer of the piece- curator of the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, and from the collection of Henry-Jean Schubnel, curator of the National Museum of Natural History of Paris.

Parallel aggregate of crystals with very well defined faces and edges, some of them doubly terminated and with a neat color zoning, intense bluish green on the terminations and clearer on the dominant faces.

This American classic from the miarolitic cavities of the Pikes Peak granitic batholith comes from the old former collection of Robert-Auguste Touchon and is accompanied by an old handwritten label of Dr. Dagincourt in Paris that will be sent to the buyer of the piece.
