Numerous Edingtonite crystals on a Calcite matrix. The crystals, not very large but attractive and well defined, cover much of the specimen, forming an uniform aggregate. The specimen stands out for its sharpness and for the excellent state of preservation of the crystals, with no visible damage. It is a specimen that is highly representative of the high quality that this species can attain at the Ice River Alkaline Complex, and it is also uncommon to find it with such an abundant crystal coverage.
The Ice River Alkaline Complex is a Late Paleozoic alkaline intrusion, composed mainly of syenites, alkaline rocks and carbonatites. It is a classic locality for the diversity and quality of its mineral species, especially those associated with alkaline environments.
