TXL44XXX: Andradite with Diopside and Magnetite

Andradite with Diopside and Magnetite. The Andradite and Diopside have similar colors, although they can be clearly distinguished by their different crystal forms. The Magnetite, with its metallic luster, provides contrast to the specimen. A classic piece from the Otto Gruson collection, probably found in the early 20th century. Ocna de Fier is a classic locality for its skarn deposits, formed by the interaction of magmatic intrusions with carbonate rocks. This process produced characteristic associations of calc-silicate and iron minerals, including Andradite, Diopside, and Magnetite.

CX12AI3: Andradite with Epidote

Very sharp dodecahedral Andradite crystals, one of them clearly dominant. They are well centered on the matrix, translucent with a deep olive green color and on a matrix coated by small Epidote crystals with a lighter green color.

Group of large dodecahedral Andradite crystals with curiously elongated faces. They are translucent, bright, and are on a matrix with Epidote crystals.

The Aguablanca nickel deposit is not really being generous in providing specimens for collectors, despite the high expectation aroused among collectors when it started. But in September 2006 the operations went through an area where good specimens of Epidote associated with Garnet, Pyrite, Quartz and Calcite appeared.
This sample is a good representation of this find.

Groups of reddish dodecahedral Andradite crystals associated with Epidote crystals and white Quartz crystals. From a locality that is only sparsely represented in collections, this is from an area in which some Epidote specimens associated with Andradite, Pyrite, Quartz and Calcite appeared in September 2006.

Group of very sharp dodecahedral Andradite crystals, interpenetrating, with well defined faces and edges, fine polycrystalline surfaces, with good luster and a very deep brown color, with a second generation of Andradite crystals of smaller size but very sharp, orange and translucent, accompanied by crystals of Epidote, Albite and Titanite.

ETP67AQ1: Andradite with Feldspar

Very sharp dodecahedral Andradite crystal, black in color and very large, on which some aesthetic 'watermarks' of lighter tones are superimposed, for which we are unaware of the cause. The specimen, with fragments of Feldspar matrix, comes from a find in May 2023 in the Imilchil area.
