Aggregate on matrix of Calcite crystals, very rich in faces, some of them doubly terminated, with some deep hollow terminations and with very acute and extraordinarily sharp scalenohedral phantom growths coated by a layer of dark and very visible Pyrite. As in so many specimens in this collection, the sample is of great quality for the locality.

Translucent scalenohedral crystal with a yellow color, polycrystalline growths on the scalenohedral faces and a flat recrystallized base with slightly wavy surfaces, not foliated, and with a small rocky matrix.

EB76AN2: Calcite with Pyrite and Hematite inclusions
Group of Calcite crystals with very sharp prisms, terminated by a flattened rhombohedron. Translucent, white and with reddish iron oxides inclusions in the lower part of the prism. The specimen comes from a fortuitous and limited find in the El Hammam area in 2008.

TZ27AD5: Calcite with Pyrite and Sphalerite
A novelty at Tucson 2016. Twinned rhombohedral Calcite crystals with very well defined faces and edges, with surfaces covered by a later phase of drusy crystals of Calcite, and with a very pale pink color. They are on matrix, with Pyrite and Sphalerite. The sample is from a not yet widely divulged Peruvian mine.

SM190ND: Calcite with Pyrite et Fluorite
Complex translucent and bright Calcite crystals on a group of yellow Fluorite crystals with coatings of small groups of globular Pyrite crystals. A curiosity, not from the classic Moscona mine but rather from the less well known Villabona Mines.

TBU64XXX: Calcite with Pyrite inclusions
Calcite crystal characteristic of this locality, well developed, with a rhombohedral habit and sharp faces and edges, translucent and with a soft yellowish tone. It presents numerous Pyrite inclusions distributed irregularly inside the crystal, generating a visual effect of dark points that contrast with the translucent Calcite. With good luster and balanced aesthetic. In this area of limestones of southwestern Ireland, the mineralization develops in a carbonate sedimentary context, where the circulation of calcium-rich fluids has allowed the precipitation of Calcite in cavities and small fractures, generating well-defined crystals and, occasionally, bright aggregates. This type of paragenesis is characteristic of low-temperature processes associated with the circulation of fluids in carbonate rocks.

TM16N6: Calcite with Pyrite, Goethite and Fluorite
Group of white crystals of Calcite with very well defined forms. The crystals consist of two prisms of three alternating faces and the three terminal faces of a flat rhombohedron but their surfaces are very rich in polycrystalline growths. They are on a matrix of botryoidal Goethite partially coated by small iridescent crystals of Pyrite. A very esthetic. piece from a recent find in the El Hammam area.

The specimen comes from the collection of Pedro Hernández, which was a reference for other collectors in the Catalan area.

They are on matrix, with clear and colorless Quartz crystals. The sample is from relatively recent finds at Trepča that are producing material that is different from what has been previously known.

VG76G7: Calcite with Quartz
The growth is very curious. The Calcite forms very long scalenohedrons which are covered by multiple growths of little scalenohedral crystals of the same mineral. Calcite has a nice pale pink color and it’s on a matrix covered by little Quartz crystals.

Very esthetic specimen. This rhombohedron of Calcite, that seems cubic, shows a good honey yellow color, transparency and good brilliance. It has grown over curious snowy white Quartz hooked growths.

TR90X8: Calcite with Quartz (variety amethyst) and Hematite
Partially doubly terminated scalenohedral Calcite crystal with parallel growths on the lower and micro-recrystallization on the surface of its faces. It is implanted on a geode of Quartz (amethyst) crystals that in the area near the Calcite have abundant black Hematite inclusions.

MF26M5: Calcite with Quartz (variety amethyst) and Hematite
Scalenohedral crystal of Calcite in a geode of Quartz (amethyst). The crystal has three channels that coincide with the acute edges and these contain thin growths of Hematite microcrystals. Within the crystal there is a very well defined inclusion of red Hematite. The sample is from a new quarry in the well known region of Artigas.
The specimen has been reviewed, photographed and published as a new discovery in the magazine ‘Rivista Mineralogica Italiana’ on page 138 in number 2009/2.
