Calcite crystal characteristic of this locality, well developed, with a rhombohedral habit and sharp faces and edges, translucent and with a soft yellowish tone. It presents numerous Pyrite inclusions distributed irregularly inside the crystal, generating a visual effect of dark points that contrast with the translucent Calcite. With good luster and balanced aesthetic.
In this area of limestones of southwestern Ireland, the mineralization develops in a carbonate sedimentary context, where the circulation of calcium-rich fluids has allowed the precipitation of Calcite in cavities and small fractures, generating well-defined crystals and, occasionally, bright aggregates. This type of paragenesis is characteristic of low-temperature processes associated with the circulation of fluids in carbonate rocks.
