EG68AH8: Baryte with Quartz and Pyrite
A novelty at Sainte Marie-aux-Mines 2018. Very sharp thin tabular Baryte crystals, transparent, bright and partially coated by white aggregates of Quartz microcrystals and small Pyrite crystals. The color deserves a separate comment because there is a mixture of reddish yellow, with orange in some areas but mainly concentrated on the edges, and blue locally with greenish hues on the wide main pinacoid faces.
This specimen was photographed and published as a novelty at the 2018 Ste. Marie Show in the magazine ‘Mineralogical Record’ on page 873 in the volume 49, number 6, and the magazine ‘Mineral Up’ on page 36 of the 2018/02 edition.

A novelty at Sainte Marie-aux-Mines 2018. Very aerial group of very sharp thin tabular Baryte crystals, transparent, bright with an intense reddish-yellow color on a matrix of white crystallized Quartz with groups of very bright cubic Pyrite crystals, and partially coated by small white aggregates of Quartz microcrystals and Pyrite crystals. The sample is very esthetic and very well balanced. The color deserves a separate comment because there is a mixture of reddish yellow, with orange in some areas but mainly concentrated on the edges, and blue locally with greenish hues on the wide main pinacoid faces.

Group of tabular Baryte crystals, with a slightly bluish color, with well-defined faces and edges and with geometric reddish Realgar inclusions. The specimen comes from a historic mining district, where mining continued uninterrupted from the 14th century until its final closure in 2006.

MBF96CD6: Baryte with Realgar inclusions and Calcite
Elongated tabular Baryte crystals with well defined faces and edges and with very well defined rhombohedral terminations, translucent and of a delicate uniform yellow color, with inclusions of small red Realgar crystals, all embedded in a whitish matrix formed of Calcite crystals, which ensures a noteworthy color contrast. A specimen difficult to find nowadays in the commercial mineral market.

MBF37CD2: Baryte with Realgar inclusions and Calcite
Profiled tabular crystals of Baryte, very intense in color and with inclusions of Realgar, showing geometric color zoning on the edges. They are on a matrix covered with rhombohedral flattened Calcite crystals. This piece, in a way, is the recovery of something that caught attention between 2013 and 2015 for its unexpectedness in that mine, and now with the addition of the Realgar inclusions.
