What to say about specimens from the El Horcajo mining district that has not already been said? Always attractive, always special, with that color and that fibrous structure. A delight. This one in particular was photographed by the much-missed Bocamina magazine and appears on page 64 of Volume 13, published in April 2004.

This specimen, from a little known Mexican locality that has produced few quality specimens, comes from the Ignacio Gaspar Sintes collection (number PIF-60) and, previously, from Peter Megaw's. We will send the buyer the labels of both collections.

EVM51AP0: Pyromorphite

Aggregates of Pyromorphite crystals on a Quartz matrix. Acicular, with an intense and uniform color, and with fan-shaped growths. A European classic of which you can only see pieces from old finds. It comes to us from the Yvan Delqué collection.

LG91AK2: Pyromorphite

The elongated shape of the specimen enhances the aesthetics of these crystals on matrix that form very well defined polycrystalline growths, with good pyramidal terminations. The color, unusual for the locality, is cream yellow with greenish tones. A French classic that comes from the Philippe Morelon collection (No. 531), whose catalogue entry we will send to the buyer.

What years those were! Extraordinary pyromorphites that became world famous were found during the years 1997 and 1998 in the San Andrés Mine. But not everything ended there, since in 1999 a good piece like this one was still recovered, with a very elegant structure and good crystal quality. Exquisite cluster of small elongated crystals with good, acute or flat pinacoidal terminations. They are bright, with an extraordinarily deep and uniform green color and are on a Baryte matrix. An excellent French classic.

I have always been very fond of Saint-Salvy pyromorphites. They are one of my weaknesses in French mineralogy. They are very curious, labyrinthine, with all the little crystals clustering into tangles or hedgehogs. Due to their delicacy it is very difficult to find any that do not have any damaged crystals, which is why I liked this piece and kept it, for its perfection.

ET92AG6: Pyromorphite

We love the classics, and when they are good then it is the best! This classic from England easily was found 100 years ago and reflects very well a period in the history of minerals in which the United Kingdom was the reference for many mineral species, including Pyromorphite. Roughton Gill is an old mining area that forms part of the historic mining district of Caldbeck Fells, well known since the 18th century for its exceptional mineral diversity and for producing many classic specimens highly valued by collectors. The Moutet collection from Marseille is the origin of this piece and the label of the prestigious shop Deyrolle de Paris that accompanies it is as historic as the Pyromorphite itself. Geologically, the mineralization there occurs in hydrothermal veins cutting Ordovician volcanic and volcanosedimentary rocks of the Borrowdale Volcanic Group. These veins mainly host lead and zinc mineralization with numerous secondary minerals developed in the oxidation zone. Among them, Pyromorphite and Mimetite are particularly notable; in Roughton Gill the Mimetite commonly occur in the form historically known as 'campylite', characterized by short, curved, barrel-shaped crystals typically showing brown to orange colors.

TC63AH1: Pyromorphite

Group of Pyromorphite crystals with very well defined curvatures that give them a barrel habit. They have an excellent orange color and luster. Although it has been reported that this kind of globular orange crystals from Bunker Hill are arsenic-rich Pyromorphite specimens, we analyzed some samples and the results are that they really are pure Pyromorphite, with no arsenic.

Group of well developed Pyromorphite crystals, with very curved faces and edges, bright greenish yellow, free standing, on a Quartz matrix. The specimen is big for this deposit.

JFD79AO0: Pyromorphite

A sensational piece (or at least it seems so to me) in which the Pyromorphite has large crystals and a very nice color zoning: the body of the crystals is brown and the terminations are yellow. The piece is a floater, very perfect, and it has a good luster, unlike others with this color association that are usually more matte. It is the fruit of a time in my life when, due to my great passion for Des Farges pyromorphites, I constantly visited the homes of former miners there, and sometimes, as in this case, got a pleasant surprise.

Floater group of Pyromorphite crystals, some of them having a very well defined hexagonal shape and others with hollow growths and some unusual flat shapes and crystalline deformations. The luster is extraordinary, among the best for the Daoping mine, and the color, a uniform apple green, is intense.

An oldie that takes us back to legendary times. The specimen comes from the former collection of Andrés Jiménez Shelly.

Druse of Pyromorphite crystals with well defined faces and edges, many of them with lustrous, deeply hoppered faces and olive-green color. The specimen, an old Spanish classic from the Joaquín Folch duplicate collection, was sold by J. Fabre to J.H. Marshall, from where it ended up in a Spanish collection and from there back to us. The labels of the Folch collection, the previous Fabre Minerals collection, the label and the record of the Marshall collection and the label of the last collection of provenance will be delivered to the buyer.

Group of prismatic Pyromorphite crystals, many of them doubly terminated and with color zoning in the center of the crystals, some of them thicker and with hopper terminations. With small traces of matrix formed by tiny Galena crystals. In LED light, the specimen exhibits the greenish tones so typical of this deposit. From a classic locality for the mineralogy of Spain and the European Union, Minas de El Horcajo evokes splendid times in which green lead shone in the darkness of the Malacate and Argentífero shafts. Specimens from this locality and with this quality are increasingly difficult to obtain.

Centered aggregates of acicular Pyromorphite crystals, with a very vivid green color and good luster. The specimen, from a time period and locality that is historic for both Spanish and European mineralogy, exhibits the most classic habit for this deposit. These specimens are very difficult to obtain because, having only been found at the beginning of the last century, very few specimens have survived.
This specimen has been photographed and published in the magazine ‘Le Règne Minéral’ number 154/2020, page 45, and the Russian magazine ‘Mineral Observer’ on page 84 in the volume 26/2021, number 1

A classic specimen of excellent quality. Crystals are short prisms of simple forms, very well defined, with the typical brown color of this locality.
The sample was in the collection of Don E. Boydston, number 154, and it also has a label proceeding from U. S. National Museum collections with the number 105219. With the specimen we will send to the buyer both the card of the collection and the mentioned label.
