Group of very sharp and well individualized crystals of Fluorite. They are translucent, bright, with a deep and uniform violet color, and are on matrix.
The specimen, very aesthetic and well balanced, comes with an old label from the legendary North Star Minerals and comes from the Lluís Daunis collection.
The Denton Mine belongs to the Illinois–Kentucky Fluorspar District, one of the world’s most important sources of Fluorite. Mineralization consists of hydrothermal veins hosted in Paleozoic limestones and dolostones (mainly Mississippian), related to regional faulting and fluorine-rich fluids. Typical associations include Calcite, Sphalerite and Galena, and the mine has produced intensely colored, well-crystallized Fluorite specimens.
