A specimen that should be in any gallery of French Fluorites. It forms a transparent druse when backlit, with crystals of cubic habit with polycrystalline growths that form well defined, lustrous, transparent and very uniform deep blue-violet steps. A French classic that comes from the Philippe Morelon collection (No. 208), whose catalogue entry we will send to the buyer.

JFD231AP9: Fluorite with Quartz
Le Beix is a mythical name in French mineralogy. Unlike those of Puy-Saint-Gulmier, not all the fluorites from Le Beix are deep blue, but some, like this one, attract attention due to the intensity of the blue, and even more for the contrast of the color between these crystals and their white Quartz matrix. It comes from an old collection, like the vast majority of the few pieces that come on the market. Nothing is found there anymore.

JFD60AN9: Fluorite with Quartz
In the La Viesca area there is not only the La Viesca Mine itself but also other ore deposits that at different times have been yielding specimens. The one that, in my opinion, was the most interesting was the quarry that the locals called the 'filón capa'. It was an open pit farther north than the La Viesca mine, close to the town of Fresnedo, and although only worked for a short time, exceptional pieces came from there, some with a very intense color, like this one.
